Writing Unit and lesson Plans
Undoubtedly you will be asked to write lesson plans and unit plans as you proceed in your teaching career. Here are some tips and ideas for writing them.
- Integrate it! It doesn't have to be separate and on it's own. Writing can be integrated into every subject you do. Teaching a science unit about the environment? Have students write a narrative about what it might be like if they were an animal losing their home or food source. Want to go non-fiction? Have students write newspaper, blogging like articles about what is happening in a specific area. Want to get really creative? Have them write a Dear Sally, my home is being attacked by so many kangaroos, what can I do? Seriously the possibilities are endless.
- Or don't pick just one type of writing allow students to express what they have learned in whatever genre they choose.
- I am attaching some lesson plans I have used in the past as examples.
- You can integrate social media into just about any lesson.
- Here are a few examples for science/social studies/ reading:
- If you are talking about the environment you can include any of the following hashtags from this website.
